OUR STORY

Stelios Jewellers Staff

Stelios Palioudakis

I have always enjoyed making things with my hands. That is how I got into jewellery. I completed my apprenticeship at a renowned jeweller in Perth and was selected as a finalist in the Australian Jewellery Awards. I refined my craft and over the years began to get a lot of word-of-mouth referral. I established a loyal following and Stelios Jewellers was born.

I love precious stones, the stories behind how they are mined and the process they go through before I get them.

I love what I do and more importantly, I enjoy sharing my passion with my clients. To take a concept from the rough stages to a polished piece of jewellery is an amazing journey and to see my clients’ faces light up when they see their custom made piece of jewellery is the highlight of my day.

I look forward to assisting you at our premises, 145 Scarborough Beach Road, Mounth Hawthorn, Western Australia.

Andy – Store Manager/Jeweller

I became a Jeweller after starting a career as an after school engraver. A passion for Art and design led to the beginning of my 7 year apprenticeship in New Zealand. I then moved to London to further my learning before settling in Perth. Here I have worked for some of Perth’s elite Jewellers and also my own brand before joining The Stelios team.

The thing I most enjoy about jewellery is creating unique and special pieces to be passed down through the generations.
I enjoy the wonderful clients we meet, where years on, close friendships are still maintained. Exceeding clients expectations by bringing a design to life is very fulfilling.

I feel that the biggest challenge is staying ahead with cutting edge and innovative designs, using a mixture of traditional and modern technology.
Correctly educating clients on the intricacies of purchasing their Diamonds and gemstones and maintaining world class standards and creativity under time pressures can also be quite challenging.

I am an avid cyclist and on the weekends can be found chasing my two girls and puppy around as well as renovating our family home.

Scott – Jeweller

I’ve always had a keen interest in Engineering and manufacturing and being somewhat creative, jewellery was suggested as a possible career choice. The aspect of my job that I find the most rewarding would be seeing the customer’s reaction when they see their finished piece of jewellery for the first time.

I enjoy the problem solving component to the job, also the creative licence involved with manufacturing of the jewellery for clients.

My hobbies include playing guitar/music and riding dirt bikes. On the weekend you can see me at a gig or out in the bush riding motorbikes.

Kim

I studied jewellery design and manufacturing for three years when I finished high school. I went on to get a design traineeship at an elite Perth jeweller where I did scale drawings for the workshop and learnt other aspects of the business.

Jewellery has a timelessness that I love. I love that it marks occasions and the sentiment and stories that attach themselves to each piece. Plus I just love metal and the problem solving of making something work.

It’s exciting! I am a mum to two little boys – they are my greatest creations. I also love nature, old music, exercise, drawing and making jewellery.

On the weekend I can be found with my boys, our animals, at a concert, at the beach or at my bench.

Gide

I’ve always loved beautiful, glamorous things, I’ve always had champagne tastes!. My chance to indulge in all three came when I moved to Broome and I started work at Paspaley pearls. Within a year I was managing the Broome branch of Paspaley and there was little I didn’t know about pearls! (or champagne!!) It was an exciting time, very social and a new range of jewellery was often accompanied with a “ Launch” so there was music, invites and catering to organise as well as displaying the pearls themselves! I then had an opportunity to manage a small boutique on an expedition cruise ship the Orion! Initially it was cruising the amazing Kimberley waters with it unique scenery and of course those illusive pearls were a highlight! From the Kimberley the Orion did other expedition cruises, when I opened the door to my small boutique on board there was always this amazing scene framed by the port hole, a coconut tree on a deserted beach, a breaching whale, a pod of dolphins, quaint tropical villages inhabited by colourful tribesmen. For 8 years this had become my life 10 months of the year. All good things must come to an end so I had to find my land legs again, this time settling in Perth amongst another lot of beautiful and glamorous jewellery this time with the added attraction of diamonds, especially the pinks who were also born, like the pearls, in the Kimberley! ……and now a new adventure with Stelios and who knows what the future holds…. As long as there are jewels and champagne!

Isabelle

I’ve always had an affinity for Jewellery. During my travels, I had to buy an item of Jewellery or some Artwork as a souvenir.

I went on to study Jewellery design and manufacturing in Perth after working for An African Arts Store where I used to make necklaces and design jewellery with trade beads. I needed to understand the ins and out of Jewellery to be able to design it and to take my love of Jewellery further.

I love the process of customization, from designing for someone with their ideas and inspirations, sourcing the perfect gemstones, the creative manufacturing in the workshop to the final product.

I feel very lucky to be part of our client’s very intimate and personal moments.

My Hobbies are DIY projects for my home these days. It seems to be never ending but always improving.

Love my long walks with my gorgeous rescue dog, Yogi.”

Isabelle joined the Stelios team last year and has been a wonderful addition to the team. Isabelle has a wealth of knowledge about diamonds, pink diamonds and coloured gemstones. She is passionate about jewellery and has a great eye for design. When Isabelle isn’t busy with clients she is designing beautiful jewellery for the store. Make sure you pop in next time and say hi.

Paul

I have been a jeweller for 37 years. Over that time, I have honed my craft in a number of Perth’s foremost jewellery workshops.

I have won two Jewellery Association of Australia (JAA) Awards which, according to the JAA, recognise jewellers “with the highest levels of artistry, creativity and excellence in quality and style”. I have also been selected as a finalist for other JAA Awards.

I love that jewellery is often linked to emotional milestones, such as engagements, weddings, births and significant anniversaries. For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a jeweller is creating exquisitely beautiful jewellery that is worthy of embodying such important connections, memories and emotions.

I also love that jewellery can outlive us, and thereby preserve connections between generations. For this reason, I love to create jewellery that has a timeless beauty which will not fade with the passage of time.

When I am not working, I love getting outdoors, preferably on a bike, surfboard, skateboard, or snowboard. I also love travelling (both near and far) with my family.

Lynn – Designer

Attended James Street Art college in the early 1970’s and completed a 3 year full time course – Diploma in graphic design.

Turned down a Cadetship with the W.A. Education department, illustrating children’s school books and magazines to take up what I felt was a much more exciting position, an offer from a newly established 3 man jewellery workshop, needing a jewellery designer to assist with custom made pieces for clients and stock. This small manufacturing workshop was the beginnings of a now very influential, long established city centre company today.

Work life on pause for a few years, enjoying the start of my family, 3 beautiful children and very happy times.

Gradually integrating back into the industry with part time employment for a time. Moving up to another level, taking a position with one of Perths highly regarded and uniquely creative jeweller, housed in Subiaco. Again with an enforces on bespoke jewellery, enhanced by skilled craftsmen. This part of my career was to last 25 years, an opportunity to design without restraint, the ability to interact with many wonderful clients, and professional work colleagues.

An environment where I achieved an International Jewellery award. Also working with the highly regarded jeweller Paul Tassif, as a team we claimed J.A.A. Wins and finalist placings.

Now I’ve taken a new path, a new venture working with the fast growing, dynamic thinking Stelios Jewellers. Encompassing many years of experience with a team of longstanding acquaintances. I have a great admiration and respect for this talented collection a like minded people. A strong supportive team, offering quality, sound advice and guidance to its customers and each other.

To sum it up I think the best way for me to describe my love of jewellery and design is that creativity is your soul made visible, and jewellery design is the medium I choose to get what’s inside out.
